Bio
Hi, my name is Mitchell Jamison. I've worked with horses for the past 20 years, primarily in the Western discipline. I started on a large farm in northern Minnesota working hundreds of cow-calf pairs. From there, I spent a little time working in the racetrack barns at Canterbury Park. I then went on to be a guide at the largest riding ranch in the state and worked that job through college. After college, I spent a few years trying to find my path to success. This involved taking some jobs I did not enjoy, starting a side business, and then turning that side business into my full-time job. that business was my custom woodworking business; The Burly Maple, LLC. I quickly outgrew the small garage I was working out of in Richfield so my wife and I decided to look for a property with a larger workspace. We found our home here on our ranch in Carver. We moved here in 2021 and almost immediately began our horse business. We now board, breed, and train dozens of horses.
About
New Beginnings
In the fall of 2019, I started a new journey to become a better, more self-sufficient man. I had always dreamt of starting my own business when one day it hit me; "Just Start Somewhere." Words I heard on a podcast I listen to daily became the reason The Burly Maple exists today.
Transition
I couldnt keep up with orders and needed a larger shop building.We found this property in carver that had a fixer-upper shop ready to use. The added bonus was it was already set up for horses as well, although we had no real intention of starting a horse business.
Following My Passion
With the new capacity to hold horses, I began a new business, The Burly Maple Stable, LLC. With my lifelong knowledge of horses and other livestock, I decided I would use this property to its full potential. I started boarding horses for some past colleagues and clients and then opened up to the public. I then began training horses, offering lessons and have recently started my own Quarter Horse breeding program focussed on traditional cow-horse style horses.
